Minnesota Vikings Offensive Star Reveals Huge Injury Update For 2024 Season

As the Minnesota Vikings prepare for the upcoming 2024 NFL season, there are major questions surrounding the injury status of tight end T.J. Hockenson.

After a brutal knee injury ended his 2023 season, there is doubt about his status for the upcoming campaign.

During the 2023 season with the Vikings, Hockenson ended up playing in 15 games before his injury. He caught 95 passes for 960 yards and five touchdowns. Those numbers show how valuable he is to the offense and how badly they need him to recover and get back on the field.

All of that being said, Hockenson spoke out recently and provided a major update on himself.

In a quote shared by NFL.com, Hockenson provide a disappointing update on his injury status. At this point in time, there is no timetable for his return to the field.

“They haven’t really put a timeline on it. We’re just kinda taking it day by day, week by week, there’s just so many variables that you can go through in this process. I’m doing really good right now. We’re attacking each process. I’m attacking each one and it’s been awesome, the progression has been incredible.”

It seems very likely at this point in time that the Minnesota Vikings will put him on the PUP list to begin the season. Assuming they were to make that move, Hockenson would not be eligible to return until Week 5.

Looking at the offense, Hockenson’s role is going to be vital to the overall success of the team. Whether Sam Darnold or J.J. McCarthy ends up being the team’s starting quarterback, both signal callers would love to have a consistent possession tight end like Hockenson. McCarthy, especially, would benefit from having such a weapon.

While there is no clear update on when Hockenson might be able to return to the field, the Minnesota Vikings hold out hope that he can return to full health at some point in the 2024 NFL season. If he is unable to do so, it will be a massive hit to the Vikings’ chance of making the playoffs.
