Former NY Giants and Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was arrested today on charges of rape. The highly decorated NFL legend surely has had his share of past personal problems for drug addiction. He tested positive several times for drugs while playing football and was even suspended for his test results. After his playing days he was involved in a few movies and even made a few questionable public eye moves (i.e. Wrestlemania and Dancing With the Stars), but its seems maybe the "old LT" has resurfaced. In November of last year he allegedly left the scene of an accident and was arrested, and now THIS?!!!!! I loved to watch LT the football player. Relentless, bold, unforgiving. The only time I ever saw him remorseful on a football field was after breaking Joe Theismann's leg. As a kid, I marveled at how he played football. Now as a man, I almost feel sorry for him because despite being able to elude OL and blocking backs to total over 1,000 sacks for his career, he cannot seem to elude trouble. Drug use and abuse are by no means a "mild" topic, but the difference in that and this new allegation is that the drug abuse is a self-inflicted wound. If you choose to potential ruin a career, or even your life because of a drug habit thats your choice, but to be accused of rape is a different animal. I will say this: I PRAY its not true. We've seen a lot of cases like this, most recently involving Warren Sapp, Michael Irvin and Ben Roethelisberger. LT has spent the last 6-7 years trying to clean up his life and his image. Whether he is innocent or guilty this will still be another stain on his name, but I am hoping for his sake maybe, JUST MAYBE this time its he didn't do this. Hurting other people, especially imposing your physical will upon women is something in no way I can support. LT, say it aint so!!!!!
